French Press: how to brew it
French Press
Coarse grind
Tuned for Premium Blend - Arabica Peaberry + Chicory, 80:20 Blend, Medium-Dark.
- Coffee
- 30 g
- Water
- 500 ml about 2 cups
- Water temperature
- 92 °C — boiled, then left about a minute A medium-dark roast dissolves faster and turns bitter if you push it.
- Brew time
- 3:30 A Natural coffee gives its fruit up early and its ferment late.
That is a ratio of 1:17, if you would rather scale it.
- Add the coffee and all the water at once.
- Leave it four minutes, then break the crust with a spoon.
- Lift the foam off the top.
- Press the plunger down slowly and pour it all out.
- It is ground for this brewer already. If it runs through too fast, use a little more coffee rather than reaching for a finer grind.
- 80:20 coffee and chicory. It brews darker and faster than coffee alone, so pull it a touch short.
- Roasted 6 days ago, which is about as good as it gets.
Ground coarse for this brewer before it was bagged.
